We report on glass plates welding using femtosecond laser pulses. We use an industrial laser station including an Yb-laser generating 300 fs duration pulses at 500 kHz repetition rate. Welding seams are inscribed on optically contacted borosilicate thin plates by raster scanning parallel lines at 50 mm/s speed with 3 μJ pulse energy. The welding seams are characterized using optical microscopy, photoelasticimetry and tensile test to obtain information about the morphology, residual stress and tensile resistance of the samples. Development towards industrialization are also investigated.
