Leverage Intelligence of an industrial system
Intelligence is a loosely defined concept, intrinsically bounded by the intellect of the entity who thinks about it, hidden in the complexity of the organism being considered.
Artificial intelligence is a recent science that attempts to mimic or surpass human’s in a search for algorithms that would make computers smarter.
Intelligence is often quoted in the context of industrial systems to recognize big data collecting and crushing capabilities to optimize processes, improve decision making.
In these cases, intelligence is studied in human and computer sciences to design efficient education patterns of computing algorithms.
We suggest to focus the study of intelligence exhibited by socio-technical systems such as industrial enterprises et networks in order to figure out what intelligence means for them, how it can be leveraged and developed for the good of these systems and their social, economic and environmental supra-systems.
The report is a work in progress gathering 15 years of observation and research, not exposing conclusive statements. It aims to raise the interest of researchers and industrialists in the real challenge of information technologies and sciences of organization beside new technology hypes and trendy organization strategies. It will summarize or open discussion on the following points:
