The Head of the Unit for Biomathematics and Bioinformatics is expected to conduct own research on methods for analysis and modelling of all kinds of phenotypic, genetic and molecular data of relevance for current aspects of fundamental and applied farm animal biology. This includes development, application and practical implementation of theoretical approaches. Leading the Unit for Biomathematics and Bioinformatics includes supervision of scientific staff and doctoral students. The position is permanent.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
We are looking for a candidate with a strong theoretical background and PhD/doctoral degree in biomathematics, biostatistics, biometry, mathematics or bioinformatics. Ideally an excellent research and publication track record mirrors several years of successful PostDoc activities. Experience in acquisition of external funding, leadership qualifications as well as the ability and willingness for cooperation are strongly desired. While interest in animal research is indispensable, the candidate should be able to bridge to related fields. Experiences in teaching at university level are welcome. The unit is one of two in the Institute for Genetics and Biometry and contributes to joint tasks, namely the steady development of the institute’s own research concept, cooperation within the FBN and beyond, statistical counselling and teaching.
